Probiotics and colon cleansing
Probiotics are the sources for good bacteria — bacteria which are beneficial for our body. These include bacteria like Lactobacillus, Acidopilus etc. They help in the proper digestion and absorption of foods and boost up the immune system. They also help to cure diseases like irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and even colon cancer. These bacteria also help to lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
A colon cleansing procedure is used to flush out the different toxic waste materials and fecal matters from the colon. It also eliminates the different bacteria which are present in the colon and the GI tract. There are both good and bad bacteria which are eliminated from the colon. The removal of this good bacteria may cause problems in the proper functioning of the different organs of our body. The various colon cleansing ingredients drive out all junk and waste materials from the body without discriminating between toxins and good bacteria. This may cause bacterial imbalance within the GI tract. This imbalance may lead to constipation, fatigue, digestive problems, acne and other skin problems. As the digestive system is affected, our body does not get the required supply of nutrients and may suffer from malnutrition. To avoid this situation, one must take probiotics when undergoing colon cleansing.
As said earlier, probiotics are the sources for good bacteria. Some foods like yogurt are natural sources for good bacteria. But the foods that we generally eat lack in good bacteria due to the processing they are subjected to. So if the normal diet does not provide the ‘good bacteria’ to our body, the only way to get them is through supplements. So before or after colon cleansing, you should take probiotics either in the natural form or in the form of supplements. They are usually taken half an hour before meals. Sometimes they are taken 2 – 3 times a day. To get the best results, probiotics should be taken for an extended period of time.
